Cwmaman Arts Centre
is a not for profit, volunteer run community theatre.
We work to provide an affordable venue for Performing Arts groups, musical groups and companies by offering a modern facility with opportunities to showcase artistic work and offer free inhouse training to support anyone wishing to be a part of live theatre.
All revenue from productions is used to cover the running costs and maintenance of the facility and to maintain and update equipment so we can provide live theatre for everyone to enjoy.
Cwmaman Arts Centre occupies half of the complex previously known as Cwmaman Public Hall and Institute.
For well over 100 years the building had provided a social gathering space for all kinds of activities from sport to theatre.
The full story of which can be read within this website.
However Cwmaman Arts Centre is the Phoenix that has risen out of the ashes of the past to provide a facility that will support and provide facilities for the local population for art, performance and crafts.
In March 2018 a group of 8 directors came together to form Cwmaman Arts Centre after obtaining a lease for Unit 1 of the newly named The Royal Cwmaman Hall. This included the foyer, reception, theatre, the gallery and the dressing rooms. After a year of planning, organising and purchasing equipment and furnishings, the theatre was opened on 23rd March 2019 with a Gala Variety show attended by a greatly appreciative audience which included some very important guests:
Ann Clwyd (local M.P.), Vikki Howells (local Member of the Welsh assembly) and Mrs. Linda de Vet (Mayor for Aberdare).
